Summary

The Shipper/Receiver will be responsible for ensuring accurate and seamless, properly prepared outgoing shipments and receiving of incoming shipments and deliveries. The Shipper/Receiver must load and unload shipments regularly, with the capability of repetitive lifting, and using any necessary equipment, e.g. lift truck, forklift, etc.  Other responsibilities will include the inspection of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify contents and quality and ensuring the items are distributed and put away properly, and entering all information into the shipping log, and receiving items into the computer system for use.  The Shipper/Receiver is required to schedule all freight and responsible to perform local deliveries and errands. The Shipper/Receiver must understand that this position very important to all the other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of the incoming and outgoing items.  Inventory management and vendor relations with shipping companies are essential functions for this position.

The Shipper/Receiver position is also responsible for processing required warranty and returns requests with vendors and tracking, recording and maintaining seamless and efficient and accurate documentation and shipping of items to vendors for credits.

Job Duties

  • Prepare shipping dock to transfer out product
  • Match product with shipping orders
  • Verify shipping products’ expiration codes
  • Inspect product to ensure saleable condition with acceptable code dating
  • Operate a Forklift or Electric Pallet Jack in a safe manner to move product that must be shipped out
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Scheduling freight appointments
  • Lifting cases of product and/or stock merchandise according to documented procedures
  • Distributing items to proper departments and putting away stock items in correct locations
  • Assisting with inventory controls
  • Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking of shipped and received product.
  • Create a daily shipment schedule.
  • Oversee the secure and accurate loading of shipments.
  • Track shipments and verify receipts of shipments as required.
  • Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Perform quality audits of the condition of goods for outgoing items prior to signing off.
  • Report discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
  • Follow current standards and procedures.
  • Ensure that shipments contain proper documentation and if multiple items per shipment, ensure item lists are complete.
  • Problem solve for any cases of missing documents, shipments and deliveries.
  • Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures and safety regulations.
  • Make deliveries with a company vehicle as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions

  • Driving required
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs may be required.
  • Work is performed in a combination of environments; inside and outside
  • This position may be exposed to elements such as noise, dust, odours, fumes and oils.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail.
  • 2 years of experience in the shipping industry an asset
  • Working experience in Shipping and Receiving role preferred.
  • Ability to perform repetitive heavy lifting.
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to weigh and measure items.
  • Working knowledge of safe lifting methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift truck.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

Supreme Diesel requires an experienced, knowledgeable, motivated and career-minded Shipper/Receiver to be responsible for ensuring accurate and seamless incoming and outgoing shipments. The Shipper/Receiver must load and unload shipments regularly, with the capability of repetitive lifting, along with the assisted use any necessary equipment, e.g. lift truck, forklift, etc.  Other responsibilities will include the inspection of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify contents and quality and will be required to schedule all freight appointments. The Shipper/Receiver is required to distribute items to all the correct departments and put aways items into inventory accurately and promptly and record all shipments into computer programs.  The Shipper/Receiver will be responsible for maintaining all returns and warranties are handled efficiently and accurately.

The Shipper/Receiver must understand the impact of this position is vital to other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of outgoing items. Inventory management and vendor relations with vendors and shipping companies are essential functions for this position.
